Job Description

The Technical University of Kenya would like to recruit qualified health professionals to work in the Directorate of University Health, Safety and Wellness Services.

Positions, requirements and key deliverables:

  1. Medical Officer Grade XII (1 vacancy)

 The applicant Must be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, or an equivalent qualification from a recorgnised University. They should further posses a minimum of 3 years experience (any 3 years cumulative in at most 2 health units) in major areas of medical practice in a busy set up. The candidate must have a current practicing licence from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB). The applicant should also have proven diligence in medical practice; be a team player; should have good track record and be willing and ready to work during odd hours. The candidate should be a member of a medical association.

The Medical Officer will be reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and will be responsible for all medical duties including clinical assessment of outpatients, inpatient follow up in hospitals and administering general provision of medical and public health services to staff and students.

  1. Clinical Officer grade IX/X (1 vacancy)

 The applicant must be a holder of Diploma in Clinical Medicine or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; A post-basic qualification will be an added advantage. They should further possess a minimum of 3 years experience (any 3 years cumulative in at most 2 health units) in a busy set up. The candidate must have a current practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council. The candidate should have proven diligence in clinical practice, a good track record and be willing and ready to work during odd hours. The candidate should be a member of a relevant professional association.

 The Clinical Officer will be reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and will be responsible for all clinical duties including clinical assessment of outpatients, inpatient follow up in hospitals and administering general provision of medical and public health services to staff and students.

  1. Nursing Officer Grade VIII/IX/X (2 vacancies)

 The applicant must be a holder of Diploma in Nursing - Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. A proven post-basic training in critical care/counselling psychology/mental health or any other relevant area would be a distinct advantage. They should further posses a minimum of 3 years experience (any 3 years cumulative in at most 2 health units) in nursing practice in a busy set up in the area of specialization. The applicant must have a current practicing licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya. The candidate must have proven diligence in nursing practice, be a team player, have a good track record and be willing and ready to work during odd hours. The candidate should be a member of a relevant professional association.

 The Nursing Officer will be reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and will be responsible for all the nursing duties, including nursing assessment of outpatients, inpatient follow up in hospitals and administering general provision of medical and public health services to staff and students.
