Getting your dream job could be so near yet so far. We all get to that point in life where we try too hard to be that perfect candidate, Packaging our achievements in our resumes and sometimes falling short of so many little things that really matter like what skill are we bringing on board. You count yourself lucky each time you are called for an interview hoping against hope that you will bag the job only for you to be disappointed.

This does not apply to you alone but also many other job seekers out there. In the end, you become frustrated and start blaming everyone for your misfortune.

Job hunting is an art, and just like any art, you need to hone your skills so that you stand out. All those recruiting are trying so hard to unearth unique candidates who not only have a well-crafted cv but those who possess soft skills.

Job seekers should always know that showing up for an interview means that they have one foot in the job. What they need to do is place the other foot and voila! The job is theirs for the taking. If you’re not keeping up then you’re definitely falling behind, and what we are working towards is that little growth.

So, what are these things we call soft skills? Soft skill is a personal skill that is hard to quantify. These skills are often ignored though very critical.

Employers nowadays lookout for soft skills such as:

1) Attitude-This refers to your state of the mind. Are you positive or negative? Most employers prefer positive thinking candidates because they bring the oomph and energy required. No one likes negative vibes.

2) Communication skills-Use of golden words like Kindly, please, may and sorry help a lot when it comes to interpersonal relationships. They make others feel appreciated and rightly treated and as such help foster friendship and unity.

3) Critical thinking-How a candidate talks speaks volumes about their thinking. Employers can either classify you as shallow or deep. As a prospecting employee, you will encounter challenges and a fine mind will come in handy.

Always remember that interviews are like theatres, you may have the costume and script but how you act is what will either wow or kill the audience’s spirit.

Therefore learn to impress during interviews because there are no second chances to first impressions.
