You may not know it then, but it shows a lack of self-management and disrespect to the interviewer’s time. Plan to arrive early to provide for any unforeseen event that may happen on your way to the interview. 2. Lying

3. Bad-mouthing previous employers

Never talk negatively about your previous employer or even colleagues, no matter how much you think they deserve it. Negative talk will only make you look both incompetent and petty. As you talk about your reasons for leaving your previous job, stay professional. State the reasons in a way that connects to your personal and career development. Employers look for individuals who demonstrate skills in conflict resolution.

4. Lacking attention

A recruiter cannot expect you to focus on your day job if they discover you cannot pay attention during an interview. In an interview, therefore, you need to show your potential employer that you are worth their time. During the interview, maintain eye contact and listen attentively.

5. Viewing an interview as an interrogation

Interviews can be daunting for many. However, do not make it seem like a one-sided conversation where the interviewer asks the questions and you respond. 7. Inappropriate dress code

Do your research about the company’s dress code culture by looking through their website, career page or even social media handles. Dress the part and demonstrate that you mean business by ensuring that you look presentable and professional.

8. Waiting for them to call back

Find out from the interviewer when to expect feedback from them, even when you think you didn’t make a good first impression. If possible, collect their business cards so that you have their contact information at hand.
